Skis Race, All Mountain, Freeride Polyvalent, Free Rando...Our intention, is to give key elements to let you be aware of your style, characteristics, to help you  in your next ski purchase, or in your nexte ski rental in Tignes !

1. YOUR SKI LEVEL

The easiest way is to identify with slopes color. Just ask yourself is you feel "easy", "ok", or if it is "difficult". We will stop your actual level to the answer "I am ok". We agree that if you feel easy everywhere, it means you are an expert !

• green slope: beginner
• blue slope : recreationnal
• red slope : intermediate
• black pist : advanced
• off piste : expert

Look out ! This is also very important to consider you objective of development : in the next 3 years, do you want to  climb all the steps or stay at your actual level ?

2. YOUR SKI STYLE

For the same level, we do not ski the same way : Here you have few question to help you to know yourself :

• Style gentle or agressive?
• Style modern carving or you feel more traditionnal style with tight legs?
• You look for high speed in long bend or for the sensation of short turns, of for bumps field?
• You go off pist as often as you can, sometimes, never? Would you like ski touring?
• Is the look of  my skis important? If so, what are my desire?

3. YOUR MORPHOLOGY

We need this to choose the right length. This season, manufacturers introduce the "rocker", which is a kind of long tip. You will have to take a longer pair of ski, because the effective edge length (the one which is in contact with the snow) is proportionaly shorter. So for a standard weight given by Lorentz :
Men weight   = Height in cm - 100 - (height - 150) / 4
Women weight  = Height in cm - 100 - (height - 150) / 2

• Ski pist : de -15cm à -10cm
• Ski All Mountain : de - 10cm à -5cm
• Ski Polyvalent : de -5cm à la taille
• Ski Freeride : à la taille ou +5cm

For an equivalent height, a 20% weight fluctuation leads to a 5cm ski height change

4. YOUR BUDGET

Just to give you an idea of prices for new skis. Prices below are given by the manufacturers. This price range correspond to skis which will give you a lot of fun

• beginners : do not buy... rent !!
• recreationnal : 300 to 400 €
• intermédiate : 400 to 500€
• advanced : 500 to 650€
• expert : more that 650€

5. SO, WHAT CAN I BUY ?

You understand thta with all the characteristics (there are 9 !!), this is impossible to give an exhaustive answer on a page. We advice you to rely on a seller. But now, you know the good question he has to ask to provide you the right skis.
